Armed Men Launch Ambush on Zamfara Governor's Senior Aide

Terror on the Highway: Zamfara Governor's Aide Narrowly Escapes Ambush

In a harrowing incident that unfolded on the Funtua-Gusau highway, a convoy carrying the Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Mouktar Lugga, came under attack by suspected bandits. The ambush, which took place at approximately 6:16 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, near Kucheri village, saw the assailants emerge from both sides of the road and unleash a barrage of gunfire on the vehicle.

Miraculously, the driver managed to keep his cool as bullets whizzed past, one of which narrowly missed him after piercing the windshield. In a moment of pure luck, another attacker attempted to fire at point-blank range, but his gun failed to discharge, allowing the occupants to escape unharmed. Despite the chaos, the driver skillfully steered the vehicle to safety, and all occupants – including Alhaji Lugga's driver and two other occupants – emerged from the ordeal without a scratch.
