Attackers Strike Down Onicha's Beloved Traditional Leader

Tragedy struck the small community of Ishinkwor in Onicha, Ebonyi State, when gunmen attacked and killed its beloved traditional leader, HRH Jehoshaphat Ikegwu. The shocking incident occurred on Wednesday, April 1, at his palace, where the assailants reportedly burst in and shot him through a window.

The local authorities are still trying to unravel the mystery behind HRH Ikegwu's untimely death. Ikechukwu Ogbofia, the chairman of the local government, confirmed the incident and assured the community that the police were actively investigating the case. He urged the people to remain calm, hoping that justice would be served soon.

Unfortunately, HRH Ikegwu's killing marks the fifth time a monarch has been brutally murdered in Ebonyi State. The previous incident occurred just last month, when the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike community in Ikwo Local Government Area was abducted and later found dead, his body set on fire by the kidnappers. Nine suspects were arrested in connection with that crime, but their current status remains unclear.
