Big News in Bayelsa: Notorious Drug Kingpin Brought Down by NDLEA

In a major breakthrough, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Bayelsa State has arrested a prominent figure in the illicit drug trade. Chimezie Collins, also known as Mezico, was taken into custody at his pharmacy in Yenagoa, where authorities uncovered a large stash of controlled and hard drugs. Among the seized items were 1,030 tablets of various substances, including Tramadol, Swinol/Rophnol, Diazepam, and Molly, a designer drug. The total value of the recovered drugs is estimated to be around N3 million.

According to SN Daniel Obah, Public Relations Officer for the NDLEA in Bayelsa, Mezico has been on the agency's radar for about two years due to his notorious reputation as a major distributor of illicit substances. The suspect's pharmacy, MEZICO Pharmacy, was found to be a hub for the sale of these dangerous drugs.

The State Commander of NDLEA, Kanu Sunny Chukwuemeka, commended his team for their professionalism in tracking and apprehending Mezico. He also expressed gratitude to the Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Brig. Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa, for his leadership in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking through an intelligence-led framework.
