Breaking News: Lagos Police Crack Down on Cybercrime and Cultism, Nabs 3 Notorious Suspects and Seizes Crucial Evidence
In a major breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, has made a significant arrest of three suspects involved in a string of serious crimes, including cybercrime, forgery, impersonation, and cultism. According to DSP Afolayan Gbenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, the operation was made possible by a credible tip-off received by detectives attached to the Zonal Intelligence Department (ZID) on January 7, 2026.
The operation, which took place in the Lekki-Ajah axis of Lagos State, led to the arrest of three suspects: Tega Emmanuel, a 24-year-old man who was driving a Porsche vehicle along Chevron Drive, Lekki-Ajah expressway; Jacob Olatunde, a 33-year-old man; and Gift Okubakpere, a 36-year-old man. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the coordinated cybercrime operation. Tega Emmanuel confessed to coordinating cyber fraud, romance scams, and generating fraudulent accounts, while Jacob Olatunde and Gift Okubakpere revealed their roles in handling financial transactions and managing cryptocurrency-related scams, respectively.
