A Disturbing Twist in the Ongoing Jos Crisis: Authorities Bust Imposter Soldier and Six Others
In the midst of the crisis unfolding in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, authorities have made a shocking arrest that's left many wondering what could have been. Operatives from the Plateau State Police Command apprehended a fake soldier, who was then whisked away to the police headquarters to be paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah.
According to the police spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, the imposter soldier was caught red-handed at Angwan Rukuba, the same community where a devastating attack on Palm Sunday left 28 people dead and 22 others injured. The suspect, dressed in a suspicious army singlet and extra shirt, was arrested while roaming the area on Wednesday, April 1, and found in possession of a fake Nigerian Military School (NMS) identity card.
But that's not all - the police have also arrested five other individuals in connection with unrest across the Jos metropolis. Describing them as hoodlums who took advantage of the situation to commit crimes, Alfred revealed that they were essentially thieves who snatched bags and money from unsuspecting members of the public in the Terminus area.
Security operatives were quickly mobilized to disperse the hoodlums, successfully restoring calm to the area. To ensure the protection of lives and property, security presence has since been reinforced around key locations, including the university environment and other strategic areas
