Tragedy Strikes in Beirut as Israeli Airstrike Claims High-Ranking Hezbollah Commander
Just a day after the clock struck midnight on April 1, the streets of Beirut were shaken by an Israeli airstrike that claimed the life of a top Hezbollah commander. Youssef Hashem, a senior Hezbollah leader in charge of the group's military operations in Iraq, was among the victims of the devastating attack that left a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake.
According to Lebanese and Hezbollah sources, Hashem was attending a meeting in a tent in the Lebanese capital when the strike occurred, killing not just him, but several others as well. The strike was so intense that it triggered massive explosions across the city, sending plumes of smoke billowing over the densely populated Jnah area of Beirut. The area, known for its bustling residential buildings, cafes, and shops, was thrown into panic as displaced people were forced to sleep in the open.
"It was big explosions, and nobody knows what's happening," said Hassan Jalwan, a local resident who witnessed the chaos. "We're living in a state of uncertainty, and it's affecting everyone."
