Dremo Spills the Tea on Leaving Davido's DMW
Rapper Dremo has been speaking out about his decision to part ways with Davido Music Worldwide, a label he was once a part of. In a recent chat on Echo Room, Dremo revealed that the label's management often prioritized its founder, Davido, over other artists signed under the label, which he believes hindered his growth as an artist. This lack of focus on fellow artists, Dremo explained, made it difficult for them to collaborate and work together, noting that he never even had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow rapper Idowest during their time under the label. What's more, the label never released a collective album, which is a common practice in the music industry that helps to promote and bring together artists under the same label.
Dremo also expressed frustration with the financial aspect of his time at DMW, stating that the label functioned more like a platform that simply provided a space for artists to operate, rather than a system that actively supported and worked with them. He explained that this lack of financial support and opportunities didn't meet his expectations, which ultimately influenced his decision to leave the label and pursue a career as an independent artist.
