TikTok Sensation Falls Foul of the Law
Udoma David Ekeh, a popular TikTok user, has been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for spreading false information about the agency and its officers. It all began in December 2025, when Ekeh made some alarming claims on social media, stating that operatives from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC had been kidnapped by bandits while on an assignment in Kwara State. He even went so far as to suggest that the kidnappers were demanding a hefty ransom from the EFCC before releasing the purported officers.
However, a statement from the EFCC reveals that these claims were entirely fabricated, and Ekeh's actions were nothing short of inciting and misleading the public about the commission's efforts to combat internet fraud. But that's not all - preliminary investigations have also uncovered a romance scam operation run by Ekeh, in which he used his Facebook account to impersonate a foreigner named Garg Carta.
As a result, the EFCC is now set to charge Ekeh to court as soon as possible, bringing an end to his TikTok antics and holding him accountable for his actions.
