In the dead of night, on Wednesday, April 2, 2026, around 11:00 pm, Chacho community in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State was invaded by bandits. The brazen attack left nine residents in the clutches of their captors, while two others are nursing injuries after a harrowing confrontation with the gunmen.

According to a family member of one of the victims, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, the attackers seemingly knew their way around the village, using a route that connects Chacho to the notorious Sabon Birni forest, infamous as a hideout for bandits. The family member recounted the terrifying moment the attackers struck, "We were sleeping outside when someone raised the alarm that bandits had attacked our village. We immediately fled for our lives." The house of the family member is located at the center of the village, from where they heard the sound of gunshots echoing through the night.

The raid, which was executed with precision and stealth, resulted in the abduction of seven women and two elderly men. Unfortunately, two residents were not as fortunate, suffering injuries that require medical attention.
