A Chilling Incident in Makurdi: Locals Take Justice into Their Own Hands

In a disturbing turn of events, a man accused of physically abusing a minor who was working as a house help in Makurdi, Benue State, has been beaten up by angry residents. According to human rights activist Zege Orkwande, who shared the news on Facebook, the suspect was also accused of assaulting his wife when she spoke out against his mistreatment of their young employee. Orkwande, who has been actively working to address cases of child abuse in the area, revealed that he had received another distressing call from the leader of the Catholic Youth Center, detailing the horrific treatment of the minor.

The minor, who was brought from the village of Konshisha LGA, was reportedly subjected to physical abuse at every opportunity, and her situation became so dire that local residents couldn't ignore it any longer. When the community leader informed Orkwande about the abuse, he was able to mobilize the suspect's attackers, and the man was handed over to the authorities. Orkwande has since taken the suspect to the NAPTIP Nigeria, Benue Command, where he is currently being held.

The incident has sparked concern about the prevalence of child abuse in Benue State and the need for immediate action to prevent such traumatic events from happening in the future.
