Peter Obi Slams Former Democracy Activists Who Now Exceed Abacha's Abuses

It's a shame to see some Nigerian leaders, who once fought passionately for democracy, now undermining the very principles they claimed to stand for. Peter Obi, a former Labour Party Presidential candidate, recently took to social media to express his disappointment, saying that "power indeed reveals character".

He pointed out the irony that many of these self-proclaimed defenders of democracy, who were vocal during General Sani Abacha's regime, have now become perpetrators of the same abuses they once criticized. Obi emphasized that these individuals, who were once hailed as champions of activism, have somehow become worse than the leader they opposed.

In a striking observation, Obi noted that history may judge General Sani Abacha, the former Nigerian military dictator, more favourably than these current leaders, who claim to be defenders of democracy and human rights. He ended his post with a powerful message, highlighting the truth that power can indeed expose an individual's character.
