Tragic Allegations Surface in Akwa Ibom as Police Arrest Landlord for Assaulting Tenant
In a disturbing incident, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has taken a suspect, Akong Henry, into custody for allegedly assaulting a woman in the Abak Local Government Area. The victim, Rachael, a 31-year-old tenant, claimed that the assault occurred when she rejected the suspect's advances. According to DSP Timfon John, spokesperson for the command, Rachael suffered severe injuries, including head trauma and significant blood loss, and was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
The incident unfolded on March 31, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., when Rachael reported to the police station that her landlord had attacked her during an argument over a misunderstanding. Preliminary investigations revealed that Akong Henry allegedly armed himself with a sharp object and assaulted the victim, leaving her with severe injuries.
As soon as the police received the report, they sprang into action, promptly arresting the suspect and rushing the victim to a medical facility for treatment. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has since launched a thorough investigation into the incident and is urging members of the public to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes and report grievances to the appropriate authorities. The command strongly condemns all forms of violence, particularly those capable of causing grievous bodily harm.
