The referee paused play for three minutes, and in that brief window, Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier was summoned to discuss the matter with both managers and TV production staff. Although the details of the conversation were initially unclear, it's now known that the pause was a result of a shocking incident involving Geertruida, who reported being subjected to a racist slur from someone in the crowd.
In response to the incident, the Premier League has issued a statement, assuring that the matter will be thoroughly investigated.
