A devastating discovery was made in Jos, Plateau State, when the remains of missing man Ebubechukwu Ihionu were found in the mortuary of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital. Danja Dafwam Yaks broke the news on Facebook, revealing that Ihionu's body was discovered on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Ihionu's family had reported him missing just a day earlier, on Wednesday, April 1, amidst the unrest that swept through Jos North Local Government Area following the Palm Sunday attack in the Angwan Rukuba community. The initial violence had already heightened tensions in the area, with fears of reprisals, which ultimately led to coordinated disturbances in various parts of the Jos metropolis.
The unrest began around 9:30 a.m. in the Nasarawa area of Jos North and quickly spread to volatile locations including Katako Junction, Farin Gada, Gada Biu, Angwan Rogo, Rikos, and neighboring communities. Hoodlums took advantage of the tension to cause chaos, attacking properties and attempting to ignite further violence across the affected areas. However, swift action was taken by troops from Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), and other special forces, along with personnel from sister security agencies, to contain the disturbances. Their efforts prevented the situation from escalating into widespread communal clashes.
