Tragic Loss in Delta: Teenager Dies from Overdose

A devastating incident has shaken the community in Delta as a 15-year-old boy, Gift Oberhirhi, tragically passed away after taking a large number of Dexamethasone tablets without a doctor's prescription. According to reports, Gift took fifteen tablets of the medication from a friend, 15-year-old Destiny Akpofure, without consulting a doctor. The consequences were disastrous, and Gift fell ill, eventually succumbing to his injuries while on his way to receive medical attention.

The sad event was confirmed by SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, who revealed that the incident was reported to the Orogun police division. The police promptly arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and transferred it to the General Hospital Mortuary in Orogun for an autopsy to be conducted. Destiny, the friend who provided the medication, has since been arrested and is currently in custody as the police continue to investigate the matter.

The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe risks associated with the misuse and distribution of drugs, particularly among vulnerable groups. SP Edafe emphasized the importance of addressing this issue, citing the ongoing enforcement actions aimed at disrupting the activities of those involved in the unlawful sale and distribution of substances.
