Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are reaching a boiling point as the Jewish holiday season gets underway. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz isn't mincing words, warning Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem that he'll face severe consequences for the recent uptick in violence.
In a stark video statement, Katz delivered a clear and unmistakable message to Qassem: "You and your associates will pay an extraordinarily heavy price for the intensified rocket fire directed at Israeli citizens as they gathered to celebrate Passover Seder." His words take aim at Qassem and what Katz views as the broader axis of evil, including former leaders of Hezbollah, Iran, and Hamas who have been targeted by Israel in recent years. "You will be consigned to the depths of hell alongside Nasrallah, Khamenei, Sinwar, and the other fallen figures," Katz said firmly.
The warning comes in response to claims by Hezbollah that the group launched a series of rocket attacks on northern Israel, targeting Israeli Jews as they marked the start of Passover. Katz's stance is clear: Israel will not back down, and Hezbollah and its supporters will face severe consequences. He reiterated the Israeli military's commitment to clearing Hezbollah from southern Lebanon, maintaining control over the Litani area, and dismantling Hezbollah's military capabilities across the country.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated in early March, when Tehran-backed Hezbollah launched rockets towards Israel in retaliation for the attack that killed Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei
